Jim Sayers is the Pastor of the
church. He grew up in Leatherhead, Surrey, the
fifth of eight children, an experience from which he has never
really recovered. He studied law at University in Aberystwyth, where
he also met his wife Helen. After graduating he spent a year as a
sales rep before training for Ministry at the Free Church College,
Edinburgh. On leaving college he served as Assistant Minister at
Hook Evangelical Church, Surbiton, working with Brian Edwards and
Peter Woodcock.
He came to Kesgrave as Pastor in 1995. Other
involvements have included helping edit the Praise hymnbook, running
Good News Bus East Anglia (1996-2000), and serving as Moderator of
the Association of grace Baptist Churches (East Anglia) 2003-2005.
He teaches on the TEAM training course in Cambridge organised by the
East Anglian Gospel Partnership, and pays regular visits to the
Gambia in West Africa to do Bible teaching with Project Timothy.
Jim and Helen have three children, Laura, Megan and
Joshua. Jim lists his other interests as reading, gardening,
carpentry, and oil painting. He has long served as an armchair
England cricket selector, and therefore (unlike the majority of the
British public!) is not at all surprised that we have won back the
ashes!

Cecil Cousins is a life elder
in the church. He is married to Marion and
they have two married children - a son Graham and a daughter
Hillary.
Cecil says: "Before retirement I spent many years in
the animal feeds business producing and supplying feeding stuff to
the farming community mainly in Suffolk and Norfolk. For a
considerable time this was carried on through my own company.
"My interests outside the church are varied, I love
reading, doing crosswords, singing (now not very well) and playing
the cornet (rather badly). I am a lover of most kinds of sporting
activities, although now as a watcher than a participator." |
